A Poets Lane wedding for Lydia and Matt

Poets Lane Wedding Dandenongs Melbourne

On Friday I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to photograph Lydia and Matthew’s gorgeous Poets Lane wedding. On a cold but clear Friday morning, I headed up into the Dandenongs, not far from home, to meet up with the guys and capture their big day.

Starting with Matt and his four awesome groomsmen, we had time to get some traditional “getting ready” shots as well as shoot some maybe less-traditional portraits. The guys were super relaxed and I think they actually quite enjoyed their preparation shoot – you always know the boys will be relaxed when the first thing you see is someone carrying in a carton of Jack Daniels 🙂 (thanks Stefan for the offer – was a bit early for me 😉  )

Then it was literally just next door to catch up with the girls, and with bridesmaids, parents, kids, and visitors all in the same hotel room it was definitely a lot busier than the guys’ room – but that’s pretty much normal for a wedding day. The girls looked amazing in their peach dresses, with a special pink dress for MOH Lauren matching the pocket-square for best man David.

Scroll down to check out the shots and more about the big day!

Poets Lane Preparations

Poets Lane Wedding

A very personal and entertaining ceremony service by the always brilliant Andrew Redman was followed by a group shot and formals outside, while I tried my best to freeze the guests and bridal party (I reckon it had dropped to about 5 degrees by this time). Of course, we moved as fast as possible and got everyone back inside the cosy surrounds of Poets Lane, but it was a balance between getting some of the great shots in the grounds there and not turning the bride and bridesmaids into icicles …

Autumn in the Dandenong Ranges

After photography outside it was inside by the fire for everyone, and then on to an action packed reception. With the very funny Elliot Goblet acting as both comedian and MC, dancing, great speeches, a dessert buffet and a game of the Shoe Game, there wasn’t a lot of time for Lydia and Matt to catch their breath! It sure looked like they had a brilliant time though, so I hope these photographs are a reminder and do the day justice. Congratulations guys, it was a pleasure to be part of your big day 🙂
