On a beautiful and typically changeable Autumn Melbourne Saturday in April 2017, Cassandre and Alex celebrated their love and tied the knot at their Bram Leigh Receptions wedding. With the ceremony taking place in the sweet little chapel, friends and family filled every bit of space to see Cassie and Alex married.
Preparations were at a family home for Alex and the groomsmen, while Cassie got ready with the girls and her lovely family at a cute B&B nearby.
Then it was on to Bram Leigh Receptions for the ceremony, photos and the extremely upbeat reception. And when you’re a former national champion Dancesport star, how could you leave out an awesome choreographed first dance with Dad. Dad definitely had some moves – I haven’t actually asked Alex about this, but seeing what Cassie and her Dad did on the dancefloor, personally I would have wanted to stay on the sidelines! I’m not sure he was even in on the dance though, because as soon as it was over it was awesome to see him jump to his feet and congratulate them on the great performance.
Congratulations again Cassandre and Alex – hope you like the shots! 🙂
Jess and Daniel booked me in around a year ago for their wedding at Bram Leigh Receptions on the 1st of July, 2016. It seemed such a long time ago when we were catching up back in August 2015!
The big day finally arrived on Friday 1st of July – yesterday, as I write this post.
We started with groom preparations at Jess and Dan’s house in Launching Place, where the guys were all ready to go with suits, ties and jackets on. Unfortunately I had to break the news to them that they’d need to take some of those off for us to get shots of them going back on – sorry fellas 🙂
Then it was across to see the lovely Jess and her bridesmaids and family, and all the folks getting ready down in Kilsyth, just around the corner from Bram Leigh Receptions. After detail shots and getting ready, it was time for the big moment.
Read on below the images for more about the big day – hope you like the shots Jess and Dan 🙂
Bram Leigh Receptions Wedding
It was a pleasure to see the friendly and helpful Leeanne Quinlivan again, and with the darkness creeping in we knew it was going to be a push to get through family shots as well as shots with the cars, which I knew Dan was very keen to do. So instead of the usual process of family formal portraits straight after the group shot, we headed out into the Bram Leigh darkness to catch some shots and do the family shots later in the evening.
Back in December 2013 I photographed Maria and Hector’s wedding at Bram Leigh in Croydon – but not without a trip in to South Yarra first to capture their pre-wedding preparations at a little hotel in a backstreet there.
This shot always gets lots of comments, it was just captured into a very shiny light fitting that was on a lamp in the corner of the room. I could see Hector in the reflection, also adjusting his tie in the far mirror that you can see in the shot. The background is just the blinds in the room, side effects with celexa thrown out of focus by having the aperture wide open. One of those lucky shots that you don’t plan and just snap it as it happens.
Another shot using a mirror in the background, but I really liked all the light that was coming into the room and how it fell beautifully onto Maria’s face. It I was shooting this today I’d probably even stop down a bit and have some more natural contrast
