Jess and Zac’s very Melbourne wedding at Fitzroy Gardens and Mountain Goat Brewery

Hair and makeup on High St Northcote, ceremony in Fitzroy Gardens, reception at Mountain Goat Brewery, and taking a tram to the reception (complete with confused Saturday-afternoon randoms offering their thoughts and opinions) – does it get any more Melbourne than that? I had a brilliant day last Saturday photographing Jess and Zac’s awesome celebration with their friends and family – thanks to you both for having me there to capture it for you.

Fitzroy Gardens wedding

We started off the day with me meeting the girls at Akabu in Northcote, where they were finishing up hair and makeup. It’s always great, and a little bit different, to have the opportunity to pop in for a while on the preparations if they’re off-site.

Then I acted as chauffeur for the first time in a while, as we all moved back into the city for the girls to finish getting ready before heading down to the Fitzroy Gardens for the ceremony, to be followed by a reception at Mountain Goat Brewery.

With the hotel being right on Russell St., we decided to use some beautiful natural light spilling in from a big window to make a few portraits.

Mountain Goat Brewery

This isn’t the first time I’ve had Melbourne’s trams involved in wedding shoots – but it’s absolutely the first time I’ve actually travelled on the tram with the bridal party to the venue. With our newlyweds regularly travelling into work together on the tram, they were keen to make it a part of the day.

And then on to the always awesome Mountain Goat Brewery, for drinks, dancing and celebration. And an awesome grazing table.

How awesome was this “cake”? A leg of roasted ham was a very unique cake, I haven’t seen one like it so far. And as a guest, it’s perfect if you’re not really that into desserts 😉
