Over the last couple of years, I’d caught up with Sam and Luke a couple of times – firstly to chat about booking them in for their May 2019 Sandringham Yacht Club wedding, and then for a chat or two about details for the big day.
It’s always so amazing to have been recommended by past couples (thanks again Matt and Courtney!), and meeting up with Sam and Luke was just such a pleasure.
More on the story of the day below, but for now, check out the images and then read on for more about this Sandringham Yacht Club celebration. Congrats again Sam and Luke – hope you’re enjoying showing off the album.
Arriving at Sandringham Yacht Club, we were met with some quite breezy conditions – but blazing sunshine and perfect blue sky, so we knew that rain was definitely not going be an issue.
However, being May, there was a fairly early sunset to deal with, so we’d all stressed the importance of being on time. However, this didn’t account for a car pickup-address confusion leading to the girls being a little late – through no fault of their own!
Not a problem though for this couple and Sandringham Yacht Club, as everyone just moved on and celebrated the very touching and personal ceremony, then a quick group shot before we moved on the bridal shoot.
Together with Sam and Luke, we decided that it would be better to make use of the dying light by heading straight down to the beach and catching family shots during the reception – I knew it was important to them that we get those beach shots that were the main priority we’d talked about in those pre-wedding meetings. That’s why you have to be flexible

Hayley and Daniel’s Bayside Celebration
On a showery day in May in Melbourne, Hayley and Dan celebrated their wedding with a beautiful Sandringham Yacht Club wedding and reception overlooking the Bay.
Having travelled down from Sydney, Hayley and Dan both got ready at beautiful hotels in the South Yarra area, and then we headed out to the Sandringham Yacht Club wedding location for their ceremony and reception.
And although it had been a sunny morning, the notorious Melbourne weather was to be a factor. We were all set for the ceremony on the deck overlooking the water, but literally minutes before Hayley was due to walk down the aisle, one of the heavy clouds let fly.
I’ve never had a moment like it before, where Dan and celebrant Sally looked at each other, and almost as if reading each other’s minds said “everyone, we’re moving inside!” 🙂 And just as well they did, as it really did come down there for a while, but nothing was going to dampen the smile on Hayley and Dan’s faces as they were wed in front of around 120 friends and family.
Congratulations Hayley and Dan – after all those phone chats and Skype meetings, it was a privilege to work with you on your big day 🙂
